This recipe is certainly the ultimate cheesy comfort food. Made using fresh Italian bread from Heidelberg Bread Company, the combination of the golden crust and fluffy, cheesy interior makes this side dish simply irresistible.
Ingredients
1 loaf of crusty Italian bread
1 stick of salted butter
1 bunch of green onions, minced
2 tablespoons of parsley, minced
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon of onion powder
1 tablespoon of garlic powder
Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Cut the loaf in a 1-inch grid pattern without slicing all of the way through and place it on a lightly oiled baking sheet.
2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan along with the onion and garlic powder. Using a pastry brush, brush the butter into all of the cracks, taking care to brush the sides of the bread as well.
3. Sprinkle the white and light green parts of the green onion along with the cheddar cheese into the cracks.
4. Bake the loaf, covered with foil, for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for 15 more minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Top with the remaining green onions and fresh parsley.
